After you get home

Once you're home, make sure you follow the instructions given for taking your medications and suggestions for rest and diet.

When you leave the surgical centre, you should be experiencing only minimal pain or discomfort. Should you have any unexpected change to your condition or other emergency, and you have any concerns you should:

  • Telephone your surgeon immediately or
  • Seek medical advice from your GP or
  • Visit your local hospital’s emergency department

If it is an emergency, make sure you call an ambulance on 000.

You may receive a follow up phone call from the Ramsay Surgical Centre's nurses the day after your procedure to check your progress.

Depending on your procedure, you may be feeling quite tired and possibly a little sore when you get home.  Please be gentle on yourself – give yourself the time and space to recover properly.

If there’s anything we can do to assist, please contact us.
